Illiteracy biggest hurdle in development: Devika Singh

Jamshedpur, Jan. 30: Jharkhand Aam Mazdoor Union on Monday organised a workshop to inform the pregnant women about the safety measures they should follow and how to take care of their health.

At the workshop held at Jogesh Park in Golmuri, the women were told about their rights and how to protect themselves from violence.

President of the union, Devika Singh said pregnant women should adhere to safety during work. Gaytri Das informed the 100 off women workers about the government schemes for the benefit of women and said that PF and ESI is or right. Devika Singh further said that women need to get aware to earn their rights.

‘The life of rural women has changed a lot but we should take a pledge to educate our daughters because illiteracy is the biggest hurdle in development’, said Devika Singh, adding, ‘educating daughters will help two families and we should ensure that our daughters are not dropped from school in absence of money’.

We will have to fight a big battle and start demonstration to ensure our villages turn drug free. On the occasion Manju Singh, Asha Singh, Soni, Rani SIngh, Sukhvinder Kaur, Beena Singh, Yamuna Devi, Meenu Singh, Sanju Singh and others were present.
