Identity cards must for casting vote: Chhavi Ranjan

Seraikela: Seraikela-Kharsawan district administration has directed all district officials to ensure that not a single bogus vote is cast anywhere during the upcoming municipal elections.

The Deputy Commissioner Chhavi Ranjan, while addressing a meeting convened on Tuesday to review poll preparations, said it will be compulsory for all voters to carry their identity cards in order to cast vote during the polls. He said the officials should make sure that only genuine voters use their franchise at all polling booths across the district. He said no room should be left for complaints while asking the district officials to remain alert on all booths.

The DC said Adityapur and Seraikela were divided into two sectors each for ensuring smooth conduct of the polls. Magistrates would be deputed in sufficient numbers in all constituencies. A video surveillance team is making rounds of the city to keep an eye on those flouting the Model Code of Conduct for the municipal elections. Special kits containing water, glucose, ORS packets and first aid would be given to each polling party, said the DC.
