I-T dept prepares list of top 150 tax evaders of Kolhan

Jamshedpur: Income Tax department is preparing to tighten noose around major tax evaders of Kolhan. It has prepared a list of around 150 top tax evaders with the view to crack down on their offices, businesses and residence very soon, sources said.

Sources said the department will conduct surveys to find out the real sources and amounts of income of major tax evaders. Efforts are on to make an assessment of expenses during the parties organized at various prominent clubs and hotels of the city by wealthy citizens. There are a couple of hundred such people who spend huge sums on parties in such clubs and hotels, but show much lower income in filing income tax returns, sources said.

In Kolhan, I-T officials have prepared a list of 22 hotels, six clubs and 35 decorators to identify and track down the evaders, sources said.
