Jamshedpur: In a case related dowry murder, Ravindra Singh alias Roshan was sentenced to life imprisonment and along with a fine of ten thousand, a sentence of three years in dowry torture and five thousand rupees fine, by the court of ADJ seven SN Sikdar. Along with this, in view of the age of deceased father-in-law Tarsem Ravindra Singh, the court has sentenced to seven years rigorous imprisonment in dowry murder and a fine of ten thousand rupees and three year imprisonment in dowry torture.
Both the sentences will go together. The court convicted the accused in the case on 10 July. Six people testified in this court. On July 10, the court acquitted the third accused Ranjit Kaur for lack of evidence. Pointer Balvir Singh, resident of Birsnagar zone number seven, had lodged an FIR for dowry killing in Birsnagar police station. Shindar’s daughter Shweta Kaur was married on 31 June 2015 to Ravindra Singh aka Roshan. It was only after 4-5 months of marriage that husband, father-in-law, mother-in-law and sister-in-law started harassing Sweta for dowry. Shweta was killed by her in-laws for not giving dowry.
