Jamshedpur: More than 100 women from several localities of the city put up a demonstration before the office of the Deputy Commissioner on Tuesday to demand action against several non banking finance companies (NBFCs) for allegedly duping them and making away with their hard-earned money.
The protestors alleged that more than half a dozen NBFCs claiming to provide easy loans had got the signatures of their unsuspecting victims, most of them being housewives, on blank paper in the name of giving them loans. The officials of these companies asked the women to deposit money with them in order to avail the loan facility.
Later, the officials refused to give loans. Many of the NBFCs also reportedly sent their musclemen to the households of these women and misbehaved with them.
Some of them also harassed and molested the women, the protestors alleged.
In view of the huge protest, the DC Amit Kumar sent the SDO Suraj Kumar to talk to the protestors.
The SDO sought detailed information from the victims and assured to take action against the guilty persons and prosecute the NBFCs on charges of fraud and cheating.
