Ranchi, April 23: A sea of supporters flooded the streets of Jharkhand�s capital city on Tuesday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived here for his maiden road show. The much-awaited road show took place from Birsa Munda airport to Birsa Chowk between 6.40 pm to 7.40 pm.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das earlier welcomed the PM at the airport. Modi�s carcade passed through a sea of people waiting on both sides of the road to get his glimpse. Slogans in support of PM Modi rant the air throughout the show. Thousands of people had gathered outside the airport to see Modi. A large number of them were women and girls. People also climbed up trees, terraces and hotel roofs to see Modi. People raised slogans like �Vande Mataram�, �Hum Hain Chowkidar�, �Modi Zindabad� and �Jai Shree Ram�. They rushed to shake hands with Modi. Amidst the shouting of slogans, the PM garlanded the statue of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. After the road show, he went to Raj Bhavan where he will take rest tonight. Modi will address an election meeting in Lohardaga tomorrow at 11 am. Senior bureaucrats of the state visited the programme venue today to review security arrangements.
In view of PM�s arrival, state police machinery launched an intensive security checking at various places in Ranchi. ATS and district police officials were deputed at various strategic locations. Those going to take flights had reached the airport four to five hours in advance to avoid delay.
