Homemakers must be alert about fire safety hazards at home: Ruchi Narendran

Jamshedpur, April 15: Corporate Safety Department of Tata Steel commemorated World Steel Safety and National Fire Safety Day, today, by hosting an interaction-cum awareness session for the employees’ spouses, on Fire Safety.

At the outset, hyam Sunder, Chief, Corporate Safety, outlined the reasons behind fire mishaps at home. He urged those present to partner Tata Steel’s cause in becoming a safe organisation, by being champions of fire and domestic safety.

The session was graced by the presence of Mrs Ruchi Narendran, who has been promoting the cause of safety at Jamshedpur through numerous initiatives targeted at different cross sections and age groups of the society. In her message to the participants, Mrs Narendran stressed on the need for the homemakers to be increasingly vigilant about possible safety and fire safety hazards at home.

As part of its initiative, a Nukkad Natak was organised which touched upon issues including safety in the kitchen and safety at home at large. Through a manual, the ladies were taught to ascertain the expiry dates of domestic cylinders – one of the potential fire hazards.

An interactive session was held between personnel of fire brigade department and the participants, who were given hands-on tips to safeguard against fire mishaps at home.

April 14 is celebrated, each year, as Fire Safety Day in India and the World Steel Association has also declared this Day / Week as World Steel Safety Day/ Week between April 14-20.

Awareness of the most common causes of safety incidents and to create a safer working environment across the entire steel industry worldwide.
