Jamshedpur, May 24: Tata Steel Processing And Distribution Limited (TSPDL) inaugurated a very advanced state-of-the-art high strength cold rolled steel slitting line in their CR plant at Jamshedpur on Sunday.
Anand Sen, chairman TSPDL and vice-president Steel Business & TQM, Tata Steel, inaugurated the line in a gorgeous function in presence of TSPDL managing director Abraham Stephanos.
The project was executed in record time of 18 months without stopping a single day’s production in the other lines of the CR plant overcoming many challenges of civil and mechanical �engineering, a press communique issued by the steel company stated.
This slitting line is a unique one having a capacity of 120000 MT a year, capable of slitting very high strength steel for automotive applications. Such steel so far was being imported to India.�
The line has been installed to process special grade automotive Steel made by JCAPCPL. Tata Steel supplies raw material cold rolled full hard coils which then are annealed through special furnaces with technology from Nippon Steel.�
This line will supply special grade steel slit and cut to length processed steel for renowned passenger car makers in India like Mahindra & Mahindra, Ford India, Honda, Maruti, Tata Motors, and Honda etc.�
Also present at the event was JCAPCPL managing director C V Shastry, TSPDL vice-president (Operations), Omprakash, Senior GM (HRM &Safety), P K Sahu and Senior GM (Jamshedpur unit) and D Samaddar.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Senior Officials of Tata Steel, TSPDL and Jcapcpl and renowned equipment suppliers from all over India and world.
Union general secretary Tridev Singh, other union members, all employees of TSPDL joined in this memorable event.�
