High on patriotism, biker groups vroom on Jamshedpur roads

Jamshedpur, Aug 17: As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, city-based enthusiasts of classic and vintage bikes organised a special Freedom Ride that was flagged off from Army Camp in Sonari. Riders bearing the Tricolour took their vintage bikes for a spin. The ride was flagged off by B Mogal, Commanding Officer, 100 field regiment.

The event was organised jointly by Jodi Riders, Royal King Motorcycle Club, JH 05 Wale, Will Power Riding Club, and All India Ex-Servicemen Council.

After the flag off the participants went towards Kadma Sonari link Road, Adityapur toll plaza, Shere Punjab chowk, Adityapur bridge, Women’s college, Bistupur main road and concluded at army memorial in Golmuri. The overcast sky and heavy downpour didn’t dampen their spirit as they started their journey.

“We wanted to do this ride to bring about unity in spite of our caste and religion. So we invited all bikers clubs to join us. Anyone with a two-wheeler and a proper gear like helmet and zeal to travel, can come along,” said Paramdeep Singh.

He said that August 15 is a date that brings the entire nation together as one, for everyone gets eager to celebrate the occasion when India got its freedom from colonial rule. Marking the spirit of freedom, the club decided to organise the ride. Many who used to get together and mingle freely earlier, are now returning after a Covid-induced hiatus, to celebrate the occasion with the same fervour as before.

The participants’ expression of patriotism was reflected in their rides, with the Tiranga flying high on their machines as they jaunt through the city with pride.

“ We all share a common passion, thus there is no better way to celebrate our Independence Day than riding together on this day,” said Jagtar Singh Nagi. He said that this event was unforgettable, especially the joy of riding with more than 100 people, with the unifying feeling of patriotism that the rain couldn’t curb. Everyone dressed and decorated their cycles in a stunning way. It was a wonderful tribute to Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, bringing out the themes of freedom, ideas, resolve, action and achievement. I am extremely thankful to the club for making all national festivals so memorable and bringing people across age groups together with the love of riding.
