Ranchi: The plea of CM Hemant Soren in the land scam case is to be heard in the Jharkhand High Court on Wednesday. In the previous hearing, the defect in the petition was raised, after which the court fixed today’s date for hearing.
It is worth noting that the ED has summoned CM Hemant Soren five times so far for questioning in the land scam case. But he did not go to the ED office on any summons. The last time he was summoned was on October 4. But he did not appear saying that the case is in court. It is learned that the CM’s plea was to be heard on October 6 in the Chief Justice’s court, in which advocate Piyush Chitresh was present on behalf of Hemant Soren. But the petition in the court said that there was a defect. After which the court fixed the next date of hearing on October 11.
Notably, for the first time, CM Hemant Soren was called on August 14. He was then summoned for hearing on August 24, then September 9 and then September 23. The CM had gone to the Supreme Court against the ED’s summons, from where he was asked to appeal to the High Court. On September 23, he filed a petition in the Jharkhand High Court.
The petition has challenged the ED’s summons. Sections 50 and 63 of the PMLA have been challenged in this. It is known that the CM had filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court on August 23 challenging the ED’s action against the ED’s summons, but the Supreme Court refused to hear it and asked him to go to the High Court. After this, the CM knocked on the door of the High Court. Its hearing is going on.
