Hemant Soren invites PM Modi, LoP Rahul Gandhi for his fourth swearing-in as Jharkhand Chief Minister

 

Ranchi/New Delhi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday in New Delhi to invite him to the swearing-in ceremony of his new government, scheduled for November 28 in Ranchi.

Soren was accompanied by his wife Kalpana Soren, newly elected as an MLA from the Gandey constituency, received congratulations from the Prime Minister, who shared pictures of their meeting on X.

In addition to meeting the PM, Soren extended invitations to Congress leaders and Lok Sabha leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and Mallikarjun Kharge, further cementing ties with key allies.

The ceremony will be held at Morabadi Ground, Ranchi, at 4 pm, where Soren and several ministers will take the oath of office.

Soren was unanimously chosen as the leader of the INDIA Bloc in Jharkhand on Sunday.

Invitations have also been sent to prominent figures, including RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, Bihar LoP Tejashwi Yadav, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, CPI-ML leader Dipankar Bhattacharya, and the Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Telangana, and Delhi.

The Soren-led JMM-Congress-RJD alliance won a decisive victory in the November 23 Jharkhand Assembly elections, securing 56 out of 81 seats. The alliance achieved a two-thirds majority, with the JMM winning 34 seats, the Congress 16, the RJD 4, and the CPI-ML 2 seats.

This swearing-in marks a historic milestone for Hemant Soren as he becomes the first leader to take oath as Jharkhand’s Chief Minister four times.

His first tenure began in July 2013, followed by subsequent terms starting in December 2019 and July 2024. This will be his fourth term after leading the alliance to a resounding victory. Hemant Soren’s father, Shibu Soren, and BJP leader Arjun Munda have each served as Chief Minister three times, making Hemant’s achievement unprecedented in Jharkhand’s political history.
