Jamshedpur, Sept 8: It is unfortunate that Jharkhand Chief minister Hemant Soren took a negative stance during the discussion on the National Education Policy 2020. His irresponsible reaction during the conference is unfortunate and politically motivated. The new NEP will provide the youth a golden opportunity and the Hemant Soren government should refrain from misleading and misguiding the youth. He is toying with the future of the youth, observed former BJP state president Dr Dineshanand Goswami while addressing a press meet at the BJP office on Tuesday.

Dr Goswami said that it was after a long hiatus of 34 years that the country had got a New Education Policy. He said, Much hard work and research have gone into making the NEP 2020. Advise of 2.5 lakh gram panchayats, 6,600 Blocks, r76 districts were taken during framing the policy. In addition, the opinions of more than two lakh educationists, teachers, peoples representatives, parents and guardians and students had also contributed their suggestions that were also effectively taken into consideration.

He said that the UPA had ruled the country for a decade but it did precious little to script a new and updated education policy. He said that this went to show that the UPA government was not interested in the sphere of education.

Dr Dineshanand Goswami said that Jharkhand was the state where maximum regional languages were prevalent. He said that there was a provision in the new education policy that primary education was to be imparted in the students mother tongue. The NEP 2020 will considerably curb migration of talents to foreign shores. In fact, the policy will see foreign colleges and universities come knocking to Indian doors. Qualitative college education will be more pronounced, he asserted.

The new National Education Policy framework had been so devised that there would be abundant scope and opportunities for SC, ST, OBC, girls, physically challenged and others belonging to the deprived sections of the community. Goswami stated, Scholarships would be made available in public and private educational institutions. The Jharkhand Chief Minister should realize that this new policy is knowledge based. Commercial education has found emphasis in this new policy. Not having a minister for higher education shows the JMM governments disinclination towards education, and added, This NEP means that kids of primary classes will not have to carry bag loads of books and copies. It will return the childhood spirit among these primary class children for whom learning will really be fun. Moreover, the NEP will see the growth of self confidence among students. India will be a nation of educated citizens. Youth will have widened scope of employment.

Others present in the press meeting were BJP district president Gunjan Yadav, general secretary Anil Modi, Rakesh Singh and media in-charge Prem Jha.
