Jamshedpur, April 26: The citizens of Jamshedpur have given Rs 12.61 lakh as fine for not wearing helmet during the checking drive launched by the police in the last ten days.
During the campaign, eight thousand two-wheelers were caught by the police without helmet. Bistupur region topped in fine collection which amounted to Rs 2.73 lakh, in Sakchi Rs 2.53 lakh fine was collected, in Jugsalai Rs 2.18 lakh, Mango Rs 2.15 lakh, Golmuri Rs 1.51 lakh. During the checking drive on Tuesday, April 25 Rs 1.51 lakh fine was collected.
The drive continued from 9 am to 9 pm. Vivekananda Thakur, DSP (Traffic) said, people of Jamshedpur are educated and the city is one of the best in the countries.
‘If people wear helmet before driving then it can reduce accidents risk’, said DSP, adding, the drive will continue.
