Heavy vehicle movement banned in Jamshedpur on New Year’s Eve and Day

Jamshedpur: To ensure public safety and smooth traffic management during New Year celebrations, the East Singhbhum district administration has announced a temporary ban on the movement of heavy vehicles within Jamshedpur city. The decision has been taken in view of the expected increase in pedestrian movement and light vehicle traffic on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

According to an order issued by the Office of the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic) on December 27, 2025, restrictions on heavy vehicles will be enforced during specific hours. On New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2025, the ban will remain in force from 5 pm to 2 am the following morning. On New Year’s Day, January 1, 2026, heavy vehicles will not be allowed to ply from 6 am to midnight.

The order clearly states that all categories of heavy vehicles will be prohibited from entering and moving within the city limits during the restricted hours. However, public transport buses have been exempted from the ban to ensure uninterrupted commuting facilities for residents and visitors.

The directive has been circulated to senior officials, including the Senior Superintendent of Police and the Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum. City SP, Rural SP, Circle Officers (Law and Order), and all traffic and city police station in-charges have been instructed to strictly implement the order and ensure effective enforcement of no-entry zones.

The district administration has appealed to vehicle owners and the general public to cooperate with the traffic restrictions and follow advisories to help maintain order and safety during the festive period.
