Heated debate on Maiyan Samman at Jharkhand assembly

Ranchi, March 20: During the budget session of Jharkhand Assembly, there was a discussion again about Maiyaan Samman Yojana.

Responding to the question raised by BJP MLA Neera Yadav, tribal welfare minister Chamra Linda said that the government will consider suggestion and will work to make necessary improvements in it. Actually, Neera Yadav had raised questions in the House through a short notice question.

MLA Neera Yadav questioned that the beneficiary women who received the amount for three months before the assembly elections 2024 were disqualified by the government without giving any reason. Due to which women are facing huge problems. The MLA said that women are making rounds from the block office to various offices for the benefit of the scheme. In such a situation, the government should organize a camp and issue a list of ineligible people stating the reasons.

Before the lunch break, the issue of providing EPF, ESIC and making them permanent to the human day workers working in the Energy Department was raised in the House.

On behalf of the government, Minister Yogendra Prasad replied that all human day workers are being given the facility of EPF and ESIC and other compensation. Being human day workers, they are not given the benefit of compassionate leave.

During the proceedings of the House, Jamshedpur East MLA Purnima Sahu demanded that separate time be reserved for women to ask questions during zero hour. She said that there are only 12 women in the House. In such a situation, women have to face trouble to raise questions during zero hour.

Purnima Sahu said that the time for giving information is from 12 midnight to 1 am. In such a situation, women MLAs face a lot of trouble.

During the proceedings of the House, MLA Jairam Mahato raised questions regarding payment to farmers. During this, when the departmental minister Irfan Ansari did not answer, Chief Minister Hemant Soren himself was seen answering in the House. Hemant Soren said that work is being done to increase rice mills in the state which will speed up the lifting of paddy from farmers.

In fact, Jairam Mahato had demanded the government to pay the farmers with interest on the delay in their payment due to non-lifting of paddy of farmers. Before the lunch break, Health Minister Irfan Ansari put up a grant demand of Rs 74 billion 70 crore 50 lakh 86 thousand in the House.
