Heat wave alert for Jharkhand, Jamshedpur records 42.6 degrees C

Ranchi, April 25: Jharkhand has been experiencing scorching heat with 11 districts witnessing temperatures surpassing 40 degrees. Following a brief respite from light rain, the weather has once again turned hot as westerly winds intensifying across the state. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for heat wave conditions, expected to persist until April 28.

Abhishek Anand, meteorologist, warned that heat wave conditions would prevail on April 25 and 26 in some districts, including Kolhan division’s East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, and Seraikela-Kharsawan, as well as Bokaro and Dhanbad districts of North Chhotanagpur division. Similar conditions were expected in Jamtara, Dumka, Pakur, Godda, and Sahibganj of Santal Pargana, with yellow alerts in place for these areas.

For April 27, heat wave conditions were predicted in at least 11 districts, while April 28 will likely see temperatures soaring in 14 districts, including the capital Ranchi and Khunti. Notably, Godda in Santal Pargana recorded a scorching 44.1 degrees Celsius, making it the hottest location in the state today.

Other districts experiencing high temperatures included East Singhbhum at 43.7 degrees Celsius including 42.6 degrees C in Jamshedpur, Palamu at 41.2 degrees Celsius, Deoghar at 41.1 degrees Celsius, Garhwa at 41.1 degrees Celsius, Jamtara at 41.9 degrees Celsius, Pakur at 43.4 degrees Celsius, Seraikela at 43.4 degrees Celsius, Sahibganj at 41.4 degrees Celsius, Uttar Pradesh at 41.5 degrees Celsius, Simdega at 40.2 degrees Celsius, and West Singhbhum at 40.6 degrees Celsius.
