Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum district administration has gone tough to enforce lockdown in city and outskirts. The focus is on important arteries in Sidhgora, Baridih, Agrico, Sakchi, Bistupur, Mango, Kadma, Telco, Burmamines, Jugsalai and Sonari.

“ We want people to understand the importance of restrictions. We conducted the flag march to enforce lockdown in view of prohibitory order under Section 144 of the CrPC and Jharkhand State Epidemic Diseases (Covid-19) Regulations 2020 but also to assess if essential commodities are being sold in the market,” said an official.

The district administration has formed 19 surveillance teams for Jamshedpur, Mango, Jugsalai and 11 blocks of district.

“As per our plans each of the surveillance teams will comprise members from the health department, magistrate and local police station officials. The team will maintain surveillance of the labourers and other residents for the quarantine period of 14 days and if anybody is found with symptoms would be kept under isolation at quarantine centers and their throat swab taken for a sample test,’said the official.

Meanwhile, traffic police jointly with city police could be seen vigilant at most of the commercial hubs seeking information from two-wheelers and four-wheelers about their reason for coming on the road.

“ In order to spread awareness we have undertaken public announcement at market areas for staying at home during lockdown and it seems to have significant effect as people in general have stayed indoor,” said an official. However people are seen roaming on roads without following orders.

. The Department of Health and Family Welfare had directed people to remain under self-isolation at their home while three persons have been kept under isolation at hospitals.“ We want people to understand the importance of lockdown. With the beginning of second wave of corona and in view of prohibitory order under Section 144 of the CrPC the focus is on that people remain indoors.

The district administration has formed 19 surveillance teams for Jamshedpur, Mango, Jugsalai and 11 blocks of district.

The administration has made it mandatory for everyone to wear a mask (either three-layered or made of cloth) if they are outside their homes. And those violating this rule are being booked by police.

An official informed that if anyone found roaming without a mask will be booked under section 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of IPC.

“We have decided to file FIR on people coming out without a proper mask. Even the Union Government has made masks must for every citizen. On Thursday we warned several persons who were found without masks. They were going to buy essential commodities but not wearing mask in Sakchi area. We have warned them that the police will register FIRs against them for offence under section 188 (disobedience of order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code”, said the police official.
