Jamshedpur: In a bid to make East Singhbhum tuberculosis-free district, East Singhbhum district health department has now decided to reach out to the patients.
Sahiyas of the district would be given incentives to help the department reach TB patients. This was informed on Saturday by the district TB officer Dr AK Lal during a monthly review meeting held at the district TB office, Aam Bagan, Sakchi.
He said the sahiyas will also be given a special training in order to enable them to perform certain functions necessary in the treatment of TB patients.
The sahiyas will be trained and asked to bring TB patients to ART centres, bring their samples of phlegm for lab test and administer them medicines on a timely basis.
The relatives and neighbours of suspected TB patients would also be examined by the doctors. They will also be subjected to tests for HIV AIDS.
Dr Lal said the department officials should submit the reports of patients in the district TB office by 7th of every month and hold a review meeting on 10th of every month.
