Jamshedpur, Apr 12: Haryana police on Monday nabbed a criminal who was absconding for the last 17 years and carried an award of Rs 25,000 on his head from Chowka in Chandil sub-division in Seraikela-Kharsawan district, close to Jamshedpur.
The police from Sonepat in Haryana nabbed Rajesh Singh who was absconding after getting out on parole from jail in 2004. He had reached Chandil and and opened a dhaba named Haryana-Punjab and started selling Murthal paratha and had got married to a local woman and had two children too.
Haryana got to know about the dhaba and the famous Murthal paratha and this brought them to the city and during investigation they found that the owner was the absconding criminal Dharmendra a native of the Chatia Oulia village in Sonepat. He was involved in the loot of the petrol pump owner Ramesh Batra at Gannaur thana in Haryana at the point of pistol and knife along with two other criminals and had looted Rs 62,000 after stabbing the servant of the petrol pump owner. While two miscreants escaped third of them, Dharmendra was caught by the crowd and handed over to the police in 2000 and the court had convicted him to 20 years imprisonment in the same case in 2003 and in 2004 when he got parole from jail he absconding making the court to keep an award of Rs 25,000 on his head. After coming to Jharkhand, Dharmendra changed his name to Rajesh and made an identity card to work as a helper in the truck and then opened a dhaba near Chowka along NH-33.
