District level workshop held to promote cleanliness
Jamshedpur: A one day district level workshop on cleanliness was organized at Michael John auditorium, Bistupur, on Saturday. It was organized with the view to ensure cleanliness in the anganbaris and schools of the district. District Social Welfare Officer was made the nodal officer for the workshop which was attended by BDOs, CDPOs, engineers, block education officers, cluster resource persons, block resource persons, social mobilisers and block coordinators. The participants were trained on the various methods to spread awareness on cleanliness among school children. The training was imparted by Unicef representatives.
Also present on the occasion, the deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum Amit Kumar directed the panchayat representatives to ensure installation of hand wash unit in at least five schools of each panchayat. He asked the officials concerned to start work in this regard within three days. He said the work should be completed keeping in mind the World Handwash Day on 15th October. He said the funds for the work will be provided under the 15th Finance Commission allotments.
Today�s programme was organized jointly by the departments of Panchayat Raj, Child Development and Drinking Water and Sanitation. The participants were informed about efforts being taken by the government to improve nutrition level among children through anganbari centres. They were also asked to make people aware about good habits such as hand washing, trimming nails and drinking clean water. They were trained on how to check the quality of drinking water in the anganbaris.
After the workshop, the DC convened a weekly review meeting on ODF project in the district. He asked all BDOs to speedy up toilet construction work to ensure that the ODF goal is achieved by 2nd October.
Among those present on the occasion included DDC Suraj Kumar, ADC Sunil Kumar, ADM Subodh Kumar, DRDA director Uma Mahato, ITDA director B Maheshwari and NREP director Ranjana Mishra.
