Jamshedpur, July 12: The steel city celebrated Guru Purnima Mahotsav with pomp and gaiety on Saturday. A number of programmes were lined up at the various organisations on the auspicious day but Bharatiya Yugavashistha Brahmananda Sangha�s Mahotsav was the crowd puller as thousands of people gathered at Brahmolokdham in Uliyan to pay obeisance to Guru.
The three-day long Guru Purnima Mahotsav the annual event of Sangha concluded on Saturday with several cultural programs and morning procession that marked the last day. The festival began on July 10. This was the 24th year of the mahotsav organised by the sangha in Jamshedpur.
Saturday started with Mangalarti at Brahmolokdham in Uliyan followed by morning procession at 6 am were several devotees and members from different Sangha branches participated. At around 9 am Sri Sri Guru Pujan was organized which was followed by Bhajan event were devotees in large numbers were present. Jamshedpur branch of the Sangha distributed Mahaprasad in the afternoon at Brahmolokdham.
More than 1,000 disciples of the sangha had gathered in the city to celebrate the occasion to be a part of the festival. A cultural programme at Rabindra Bhavan that saw children singing songs and putting up dance performances.
Later in the day Cuttack, Muzzafarpur and Kharagpur branches presented cultural programs at Rabindra Bhawan while the closing ceremony was witnessed by all the branches. At 9 pm Guruprasad was distributed jointly by all the branches at Brahmolokdham.
It may be noted that the festivities began on Thursday with flag hoisting at Brahmalok Dham in Kadma followed by recitation of hymns, spiritual discourses and cultural programmes. About six branches of the sangha from New Delhi, Calcutta, Varanasi, Muzaffarpur and Cuttack took part in the annual mega festival. Each of the branches presented a cultural programme based on spirituality and mythological stories.
