Jamshedpur, August 31: Gulmohur High School on August 31, held its Annual English and Hindi Elocution competition, embodying Ralph Waldo Emerson’s belief that “speech is power.” The event showcased the oratory talents of students from classes VI to XII. The English Elocution competition featured judges Tejwant Kaur from Dayanand Public School and Swati Kamboj from Tarapore School, Agrico. In the first category, students from classes 6, 7, and 8 competed in Poetry Recitation. Class 9 and 10 students participated in the Declamation Competition, delivering speeches by iconic personalities, while those in classes 11 and 12 presented speeches from William Shakespeare’s plays.

For the Hindi Elocution, the event was judged by Richa Dwivedi from Tarapore School, Agrico, and Mridula Kumari, a retired senior Hindi teacher from Gulmohur High School. Class 6 students recited poetry inspired by nature, while participants from classes 7 and 9 presented humorous poems. Students in class 8 recited poems on heroism, class 11 addressed contemporary social issues, and classes 10 and 12 delivered inspirational speeches.
The competitive spirit and dedication of students were acknowledged by judges and Vice-Principal Archana Srivastava. The winners in English Elocution were Geetansh Mishra (1st) for class 6, Manvi Kumari (1st) for class 7, Riya Singh (1st) for class 8, Shray Sharma (1st) for class 9, Chandni Mishra (1st) for class 10, Rijul Tripathy (1st) for class 11, and Ishika Kumari (1st) for class 12. Manvi Kumari was recognized as the Best Speaker in classes 6, 7, and 8, while Chandni Mishra was named Best Speaker for classes 9 and 10, and Ishika Kumari was the Best Speaker for classes 11 and 12.
In the Hindi Elocution, winners included Anika Kashyap (1st) for class 6, Manvi Kumari (1st) for class 7, Samriddha Ghosal (1st) for class 8, Ayushi Hazra (1st) for class 9, Chandni Mishra (1st) for class 10, Rijul Tripathy (1st) for class 11, and Ishika Kumari (1st) for class 12. Manvi Kumari was also named Best Speaker in classes 6, 7, and 8, while Ayushi Hazra was the Best Speaker in classes 9 and 10, and Rijul Tripathy was honoured as the Best Speaker in classes 11 and 12.
