Gulmohur High School: ‘Horizon’ raises awareness on artisanal fisheries, aquaculture

Little Flower School bags Championship Trophy

Jamshedpur, Aug 27: Gulmohur High School hosted fun filled and entertaining event Horizon 2022 – Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture (Let’s Dive into the Blue) on Friday.

As this year 2022 has been declared as the International Year of Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture. We at Gulmohur tried to raise awareness about the importance of Artisanal Fisheries as millions of people around the world rely on it for their livelihood.

270 students from 30 renowned schools of Jamshedpur participates in this unique inter school programme and showcased their talent. Some fascinating and enthralling programmes and activities were organised for the participating schools.

Deepak Kumar, General Manager, HR, Tata Motors Limited, was present as the Chief Guest.

The auditorium came into life with the ‘ Wishful Fishers ‘ prayer dance dedicated to rivers. Next was the Hindi skit ‘Samundar se Nata’ highlighting the lives of the fishermen and the challenges faced in their day to day life. This was followed by the English Choral Recitation ‘ Restore the Aqua World’ with a message that exhibited to take adequate measures to stop mass marine extinction.

‘Aqua Aces’ – the medley dance that exhibited the colourful sides in the lives of fishermen left the audience speechless and were overwhelmed by the incredible performances. The hardwork of our committed students could be noticed under the able guidance of the administrators and the teachers. The host school arranged many interesting inter school activities for the participating schools from Class 1 to 8 .

These were Adorn your Fishy Wishy, The Quest, Ocean Vibes, Slogans on a Scroll, The Thought Rattle, Awe Fish Paradise, The Aquatic Universe and Blues Breathe. The fancy dress titled ‘ Ocean Vibes ‘ presented by the guest schools representing different aquatic animals was a mind blowing performance and received a lot of applause. The championship trophy was bagged by Little Flower School, Telco and the runner up was DBMS School, BH Area, Kadma.

Priti Sinha, Principal of the school handed over the trophy and prizes to the deserving winners.

The hard work and efforts of the Vice Principal Archana Srivastava, Process owners Madhuchanda Sarkar, Rumpa Chakraborty, Nooree Khan and Minky Ojha, the teachers and students led to the grand success of the programme.

The Managing Committee applauded the great endeavour of students and teachers. The Chief Guest, Deepak Kumar said that the programme provided a learning experience to children regarding Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture.
