PM Modi, Congress Greet Nation on Gudi Padwa

Mumbai (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings to citizens on the occasion of Gudi Padwa, marking the beginning of the Marathi New Year, and highlighted the festival’s relevance in India’s journey towards progress and self-reliance.

He said, “On the auspicious occasion of Gudi Padwa, I extend my heartfelt greetings to you and your family. This sacred festival, marking the beginning of the New Year, is a time of renewed hope and the promise of new beginnings. As the Gudi is raised high, it stands as a symbol of victory, prosperity and optimism.”

The Prime Minister emphasised the cultural importance of the festival, stating, “Gudi Padwa holds deep cultural and historical significance. It symbolises the triumph of righteousness over adversity. It is also associated with the onset of spring, the season of rejuvenation. May this New Year bring happiness, good health and prosperity to all.”

He added, “As India continues its journey towards progress and self-reliance, the essence of Gudi Padwa becomes even more relevant. The values it embodies guide us. In a rapidly changing world, these traditions anchor us and remind us of our roots. Let us carry forward the spirit of Gudi Padwa throughout the year with renewed determination and purpose.”

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also extended his greetings and called on people to uphold the spirit of Maharashtra.

He said, “Let us raise the Gudi of Marathi pride high. May this New Year bring happiness, contentment and prosperity to everyone. May it fulfil the hopes and aspirations of all. I pray for good health for everyone so that new ideas can turn into reality. Let us use this occasion to strengthen the spirit of Maharashtra and elevate Marathi language and culture.”

The Congress on Thursday extended greetings to people across the country on the occasion of multiple spring festivals, including Gudi Padwa, Chaitra Navratri, Ugadi, Sajibu Cheiraoba, Chetti Chand, and Navreh. The party conveyed its wishes for happiness, prosperity, and new beginnings on these auspicious occasions.

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, took to social media platform X to greet citizens. He said, “Wishing a very happy Gudi Padwa, Chaitra Navratri, Ugadi, Sajibu Cheiraoba, Chetti Chand, and Navreh to all. May these joyous occasions fill your life with happiness, prosperity, and new beginnings.”

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also shared his message on X, highlighting the spirit of unity in diversity. He said, “As we celebrate the spirit of Chaitra Sukladi, Gudi Padwa, Chetti Chand, Navreh and Sajibu Cheiraoba across our diverse nation, we extend our warmest greetings to all those who are celebrating these joyous festivities. May these spring festivals bring new beginnings, deepen the bonds of amity and fill every home with happiness and hope.”
