Ranchi: Growing incidents of violence and suicide are a source of grave concern for the state and its people today. This was observed on Saturday by the governor of Jharkhand Dr Syed Ahmed during the 39th annual conference of the Eastern Region Indian Psychiatric Society held at RDCIS auditorium, Shyamali.
Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, the governor said the growing tendency among youths to take to violence and other despicable acts was alcoholism and depression.
He said such conferences should focus attempts on finding solution to such problems plaguing the society at large. He said the situation should be controlled and youths should be guided properly tolead a healthy and constructive
Dr Ahmed said everyday news reports of youths including women committing suicide often caused worry about the fate of the society.
He said the youths were ending their lives after falling into depression. Parents of such people are distressed beyond limits. In such a situation, such a tendency among youths is definitely worrysome, he said. Many other dignitaries too, addressed the conference.
