Grand Founder�s Day celebrations planned despite rough phase

Jamshedpur, March 1: The steel city is all set to celebrate the 177th birth anniversary of its founder, Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, on March 3.

Like every year, several events have been lined up for the occasion, which will commence on March 2 and continue till March 5.

Various divisions of Tata Steel as well as other companies of the Tata Group based in Jamshedpur will pay homage to the founder on the occasion.

�The steel industry is passing through a rough phase but our commitment to the vision, ideals and values of the great visionary is the same as previous years and would celebrate the founders day in grand scale,� said Sunil Bhaskaran, vice-president, corporate services, Tata Steel.

Addressing a press conference at SNTI on Tuesday, Bhaskaran said, �Tata Steel is not the same it used to be 10 years ago as we have expanded a lot with investments in Odisha, but our heart is in Jamshedpur.�

He further said that the Government of India is focusing on �Make in India� and recently the government hosted the �Make in India� week in Mumbai focused on manufacturing excellence.

During the event, Times Magazine of US conferred Tata Steel with the best manufacturing set up award, which was handed over by PM Narendra Modi to MD TV Narendran. Like every year the theme of founder�s day in 2016 is �Futuready Nayi Soch � Naye Kadam�, said Kulvin Suri, chief, corporate communications, Tata Steel.

Ashish Mathur, managing director, Jusco, said, �We have tried to do something different with the lights and this year Bhuiyadih park will also be illuminated along with al laser show at Beldih lake, which received very good response last year.�

He added, �A separate barricading has been put up for the safe public movement inside the park. Safety is our topmost priority and people should enjoy the occasion.�
