Jamshedpur, July 5: “The state government should allow opening of all religious places like temples, churches, masjids, gurudwaras and others with COVID protocols in place as it has in case of other establishments through the unlock phases,” wrote Congress party’s national spokesman and former Jamshedpur MP, Dr Ajoy Kumar in a letter to Jharkhand Chief Minister, Hemant Soren..

Dr Kumar argued that the holy spots should be opened to the people in a similar manner to shops dealing in essentials as priests and other workers at these religious places depended on donations from devotees to meet the bare necessities of living for themselves and their families. He said, “The government should consider reopening of temples, churches, masjids, gurudwaras and other shrines of prayers as priests and other workers at these places depended on donations by devotees. With these places closed, the priests and workers of these places of prayers are finding it difficult to cope with the needs of daily living.”

Dr Ajoy Kumar has urged the Chief Minister to allow places of prayers of all communities with COVID protocols in place.
