Ranchi, March 13: Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Sunday announced that the family tree (vanshawali) of Tana Bhagats will be prepared from April and camps will be organised in the villages for this purpose. He announced that special surveys will be conducted to add the names of Tana Bhagats, whose names are not in the government records.
Raghubar Das was addressing a program on the “Thoughts of Gandhi – Tana Bhagat” at Vikas Bharti in the state capital. During his address, CM announced that a Tana Bhagat Welfare Board will be constituted, which will initiate an action plan for the development of Tana Bhagats in the state. Das also said that the state government will facilitate the skill development to educated unemployed Tana Bhagat youths so that employment is created for them.
Apart from running residential schools for Tana Bhagats in Ranchi, Gumla, Lohardaga and Chatra districts, he announced that these schools will be renovated. The CM also announced that the Mahadani Ground of Bedo will be developed as a memorial for Mahatma Gandhi.
Das said that contribution of Tana Bhagats during the freedom movement was commendable. He assured that the state government is initiating moves to fulfil the long pending demands of Tana Bhagats.
CM also assured that many steps will be been taken for the welfare of Tana Bhagats including name change of the legal heirs to their lands. Lands that had been wrongfully auctioned will be returned to the Tana Bhagats and they will be given possession of government GM land following proper verification.
The CM further said his government will strengthen the khadi institutions because Tana Bhagats have a keen interest in khadi.
According to the CM, till now vote bank politics has prevailed in the state and this is the reason why no real welfare steps have been taken for the development of Tana Bhagats. He said Tana Bhagats are the followers of Mahatma Gandhi.
They (Tana Bhagat) follow the path of truth and non-violence, so they should not be fooled. CM said his government is not making any false commitments and people can see that things will be implemented from this April.
CM said, Hon’ble Prime Minister has vowed to make India Clean by 2019 on the 150th birth anniversary of Gandhi Ji. Clean India was a dream of Gandhi ji. CM said, Jharkhand Govt. is also moving fast to make Jharkhand clean.
He appealed people to learn cleanliness from tribal. As the Tribal’s keep their surroundings neat & clean.
The CM also felicitated the grandson of Tana Jatra Bhagat during the program. Padmashree Ashok Bhagat, MLA Jitu Charan Ram, MLA Gangotri Kujur, Mayor Asha Lakra, IAS KK Sone, Suchitra Sinha, director of state tourism, Dr KK Nag and other dignitaries graced the occasion. It is worth mentioning that Das addressed the gathering bare footed to honor the Tana Bhagats.
