Govt approves 1.92 lakh applications for toilet construction: CS

Ranchi, Oct. 25: Chief Secretary Raj Bala Verma said that out of 2.21 lakh applications received for toilet construction, 1.92 lakh have been approved by the government.

Directing all the municipal bodies the CS said that toilets should be constructed on a war footing. She said that daily review of toilet construction should be ensured on dept. level, application generation should be sped up and funds should be transferred in the beneficiaries� accounts.

Laying stress on collecting applications ward-wise she directed the officials to ensure that no house remains devoid of toilets.

She said that city managers should coordinate with ward councilors and select the beneficiaries. After reviewing the received application, funds should be released. Moreover, the beneficiaries who have received fund should be monitored whether they are making toilets or not. Those who have started on the fixed parameter should be given the next installment.

Warning the municipal bodies of Chaibasa, Saraikela, Mihizam and Vishrampur, the CS said that if the work does not speed up in a month, action will be taken on them. She also directed to take action on city manager and PIU showing slackness in the work.

Reviewing the Pradhan Mantri awas Yojana, the CS directed to release second installment of funds to those only who have completed construction up to plinth level. Bonafide beneficiaries should be selected and fake ones should be removed from the list. She ordered to profile city manager�s work ward wise. It was reported by the department that

19933 houses have been approved by the Union government and 2069 houses have been tagged so far.

UDD Principal Secretary Arun Kumar Singh directed that camps should be conducted ward wise in the bodies where PMAY application has not been generated. Sub-committees should be formed and taken help for sanitation work along with certifying that no house in their ward remains devoid of toilet.

Regarding imparting training under NULM, the CS said that the training work should be started and those agencies who have not started training should be enlisted for taking action.
