Jamshedpur, Jan. 2: Saryu Rai, state food and civil supplies minister, said, ‘My motto for the year 2016 would be to talk less and work more and your work should speak about your identity’.
Talking to the mediapersons at his office on Saturday, Jamshedpur West MLA, said, the government has started to work but not much work has been done as it was expected in a year.
‘We talk about building new hospitals but why not renovate the existing the facility. We had talks with a couple of doctors at MGM Hospital and have asked for detailed report’, said Rai, adding, ‘the doctors of MGM were of the opinion that if government takes the lead the facilities at MGM can be improved and huge population will be benefited’.
Minister further said, education and health are the major issues of the region and government schools should be improved in order to impart quality education.
Talking about Mango water supply project, Saryu said, underground piped water work will start from January 8 while Rs 33 crore fund has been approved for the second phase while the total investment for the project is 123 crore –(65 +25+33 crore).
Over 2 lakh beneficiaries would be benefited with 70 thousand household people. The whole work would take around a year to complete as only 75 per cent work has been done. This summer only 75 per cent of the population in Mango would be benefited from the water supply project, he added.
Minister further said, ‘Two parks have been approved by the forest department and one would come up near Payal Cinema in Mango and another near water tower while a park would also be developed near River Kharkai in Shastrinagar, adding, Mango would be made Municipal Corporation and this year I would look to remove all hurdles that come in Mango becoming municipal corporation’.
Rai also sought mid-term appraisal of the land lease agreemed signed between Jharkhand government and Tata Steel to bring to light shortcomings on part of the state government and Tata Steel.
Minister said that he would write a letter to the state urban development ministry to resolve the long-standing Jamshedpur Industrial township case pending in the Supreme Court. “Since 2008 the matter is pending with the Supreme Court and it’s high time government and Tata Steel should either resolve the matter on their own or both the parties should approach Supreme Court to pass the judgment at the earliest,” said Rai.
Jamshedpur based social worker, Jawaharlal Sharma had filed an application for the implementation of an elected municipal body in the year 2008 instead of the existing system.
“If the people of the town are keen to accept Industrial township with Tata Steel as the civic guardian than it should be told to the apex court and settle the matter once and for all,” said the minister.
When asked about Babulal Marandi’s phone tapping claims, Saryu Rai said Marandi ji is a responsible leader and government should take the charges seriously and probe the matter and Marandi should submit the proof of phone tapping.
