Governor orders for ex-army welfare

Ranchi: Governor Syed Ahmed has asked State Army Welfare Directorate to ensure speedy execution of welfare measures for the dependents of ex army personnel.

He also called up on the directorate to take steps for revenue generation. The Governor was addressing the managing committee meeting of the Directorate here today.

Present on the occasion among others were chief secretary Rajiv Gauba, additional chief secretary (Home), NN Pandey, chief secretary of the Governor, Nitin Madan Kulkarni, deputy director, Army Welfare Directorate, MM Tudu and others.

It was stated in the meeting that 134 shops at Sainik Bazaar established in 1992 have been distributed among retired army personnel and others.

The shops generate revenues to the tune of Rs 6.5 lakhs a year. Discussions were held on construction of a market complex and utilization of vacant areas for further use.

The initiatives would increase revenues which would be used for the welfare of the families of the retired army personnel, the officials said.
