Jamshedpur, Dec 26: The Jharkhand High Court is hearing a petition filed by the state government seeking the cancellation of bail granted to Kanhaiya Singh and Sudhir Dubey, alleged members of the Akhilesh Singh gang. During the proceedings, the accused requested additional time to review the government’s affidavit before responding.

The state government has cited that several criminal cases have been registered against the duo since they were granted bail by the High Court in 2019. According to the affidavit, eight new cases have been filed against Kanhaiya Singh, while Sudhir Dubey faces five additional cases. The government has argued that these developments justify the revocation of their bail, referencing a Supreme Court directive to support their stance.

The defence team for Singh and Dubey has sought two weeks to submit a comprehensive reply to the court. The case is being reviewed by a division bench led by Justice Anand Sen. The government’s plea includes an interlocutory application (IA) highlighting the continued criminal activities of the accused.

The state alleges that despite being out on bail, both Singh and Dubey have been involved in activities that violate the terms of their release, underscoring the need for stricter judicial scrutiny. The hearing comes as part of ongoing efforts to curb organized crime in the region, with the government taking a strong stance against individuals allegedly involved in repeated unlawful acts.

The court is expected to consider the arguments from both sides in subsequent hearings, as the state seeks to reinforce its commitment to public safety and law enforcement.
