Government may initiate municipal elections: Paswan

Jamshedpur: The state Urban Development and Tourism Minister of Jharkhand Suresh Paswan has said that the state government may take an initiative to conduct Municipal Corporation elections in case private companies bound to provide services to the people under lease agreement do not keep the promises made under agreement terms. He said the companies have the duty to provide civic amenities to the people as it was their responsbility.

Paswan was in the city as a part of his visit. He said the case related to provision of civic amenities by private companies bound to do so under lease agreement was pending in the court and hence he could not pass a comment on that issue. He said the state government will be putting forth its stand strongly before the court. He said a flyover is to be constructed in the city as a part of the Eastern Western Corridor.

He said he was collecting information regarding the proposed proposed. He said he was trying to find out as to where did the project hit the roadblock. He said the government will try its best to remove the hurdle and pave the way for a smooth implementation of the said project.

Paswan held a review meeting at Circuit House with the deputy commissioner and other government authorities. He said the government had an ambitious plan to turn the state into a green and clean state so that tourism industry gets a filip. He further said that the town buses that had gone off road will soon be made operative. He said such buses will be repaired as per requirement.

Even as Paswan spared no opportunity to announce his ambitious plans to develop the state, the local Rashtriya Janata Dal leaders seemed to take no hint of the senior leader seeking to build party image. Leaders of rival factions in the RJD fell out before Paswan and one more party MLA Sanjay Prasad Yadav during a felicitation programme organized at Jain Bhavan, Sakchi, to welcome the minister.

Many party leaders alleged that they were neglected during the entire programme as their names and photos were not given space in hoardings and posters put up across the city. They raised slogans before Paswan and opposed local party leader Purendra Narayan Singh.
