Good governance will fulfill people�s aspirations: Raghubar

Jamshedpur, May 20: Chief Minister Raghubar Das today said that good governance was the panacea for all problems of Jharkhand.

He said the aspirations of the people of the state could be fulfilled through a corruption-free government, responsible administration and good governance. He said the panchayats should make sure that village level corruption is weeded out from daily life.

He was speaking at the Kolhan division level conference of the 20 Point Programme Implementation Committee on Saturday.

In his address, Das said transparency in government schemes would increase with greater participation of the people in democracy. He said the Central and state governments laid down good policies for development, but the same raised the cost and resentment of the people due to delay in implementation.

�The government is celebrating this year as Garib Kalyan Varsh. It wants to make sure that the development schemes reach the last man on the street.

The 20 Point Committees have been given 20 goals which they are required to achieve by establishing better coordination at the state, district and block level,� the CM said.

Das said the state 20 Point Committee has to meet every six month and the district and block committees have to meet every three month. The nominated officials should ensure their presence in the meeting, he said.

Das said the block officials should work with the district officials as a team and should not only do paper work. He said the government officials should first visit villages and then prepare schemes for development. He said the blocks doing well in implementing development schemes would be awarded.

Among others present on the occasion included the rural development minister Neelkanth Singh Munda, education minister Dr Neera Yadav, MP Laxman Gilua, MP Vidyut Varan Mahato, MLA Laxman Tudu, Chief Secretary Raj Bala verma, Additional Chief Secretary Amit Khare and 20 Point Committee vice president Rakesh Prasad.
