Godda (IANS): A 60-year-old man, in an intoxicated state, murdered his 55-year-old wife following a heated argument, all while their two minor grandsons watched in terror. The incident of domestic violence took place in Ghasichak village in the Meharma block of Jharkhand’s Godda district.
The Gruesome Attack
The accused, identified as Kishan Das, was known to frequently quarrel with his wife, Ruby Devi, over domestic issues. According to preliminary police investigations, the situation took a turn for the worse on Friday when Das returned home under the influence of alcohol.
During the ensuing dispute, the accused allegedly gagged his wife with a cloth to prevent her from alerting neighbours. He then used a sharp-edged weapon to inflict severe injuries on her neck and body.
Children Witness the Horror
The couple’s minor grandsons, Luv and Kush, along with their grandmother, were present when the assault occurred. The children’s screams eventually alerted the villagers, but the accused managed to flee the scene before help could arrive.
Villagers found Ruby Devi in a pool of blood and rushed her to a local hospital. She was later referred to Sadar Hospital in critical condition, where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
Police Investigation and Manhunt
Meharma police station in-charge Saurabh Kumar Thakur arrived at the village with a team to begin the investigation. Police have since recovered the blood-stained weapon from the house and recorded the statements of the traumatized children.
Authorities have launched a series of raids across several locations to apprehend the absconding Kishan Das. The incident has left Ghasichak village in a state of shock and mourning, with residents demanding swift justice for the victim.
