Jamshedpur: Over the course of this year, Entrepreneurship Cell of IIT Kharagpur has already undertaken various activities, including the Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive, a panIndia initiative to spread entrepreneurship in cities across India in 20 cities.
Following on the successful culmination of the Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive, which saw close to 20000 participants in total, personalities such as Phanindra Sama CEO of Redbus.in, Arjun Malhotra Co-founder of HCL Technologies, Sandip Tarkas President and CEO of Future Group,Varun Agarwal CEO of Alma Mater,Anshu Gupta founder of Goonj, were a notable few among the speakers and coverage in most of the important news houses of India, and E-Cell is now moving on to its flagship event, the Global Entrepreneurship Summit.
The Global Entrepreneurship Summit (scheduled from 10th-12th January, 2014), the annual flagship event of the Entrepreneurship Cell IIT Kharagpur, is one of the biggest entrepreneurial platforms for academicians, newage entrepreneurs, eminent business personalities, venture capitalists and the students to gather at one place and share their entrepreneurial endeavours and experiences, and to pledge to take entrepreneurship in India to
greater scales.
The major draw of GES is the quality and variety of speakers that it has seen over the years. The previous editions
of GES have witnessed Stalwarts such as Suneet Singh Tuli(founder of Aakash Tablet), Kanwal Rekhi (Indian-born US entrepreneur), Dominique Trempont (serial entrepreneur, and the right-hand of Steve Jobs), SramanaMitra (Forbes Columnist and Silicon Valley entrepreneur), Harish Hande (renowned Social Entrepreneurs), Vikaas Gutgutia (Founder and Managing Director of Ferns N Petals),NachiketMor (former Deputy Manager of ICICI Bank) and Sanjeev Bhickchandani (Founder, Naukri.com).
The 2014 edition of GES is no exception, and following in the trend of previous years, will witness Guest Lectures by various eminent personalities! Workshops, focused on building the entrepreneurial acumen of participants are also in the pipeline. Earlier workshops include those by Deloitte on Mind to Market, by Franklin Covey on 4 Disciplines ofExecution, byIntel, Microsoft, Entrepreneurship Development Institute, Novell and Wipro.
Global Entrepreneurship Summit plays host to India’s only Global Conference on Entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship
Cell IIT Kharagpur aims to provide a platform where promotion of entrepreneurship could be discussed with a global perspective.
This video conferencing session will serve as a conclave for discussion of opportunities and programs aimed to- wards promoting entrepreneurship in various Universities across the world.
The conference will be followed by a discussion amongst the Entrepreneurship Cells in India about the Indian scenario and how best to go about promoting entrepreneurship in their respective campuses.
The Global business plan competition, Empresario and Envision, the product design competition saw entries from around the country, at the close of the preliminary round in November.
The finals of the competitions will be part of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit, which acts as a finale of sorts to the year-long activities of ECell.
Another event of mention is the Start-up Camp, which will involve interaction of Entrepreneurs and students and aims to help Start-ups to recruit the finest talent amongst GES participants for internships/jobs while giving them an opportunity to meet the biggest VC and Angel Investors in India present on campus.
30 start-up from various sectors ranging from social ventures to healthcare to technology, from across India participated in GES 2013.
Entrepreneurship Cell, IIT Kharagpur aims to educate every member of India’s collegiate fraternity on entrepreneurship as a possible way of life, and to provide support to all those who choose this path.
The Global Entrepreneurship Summit, with its varied content and participation, will prove to be the ultimate stage for propagating this cause.
