Jamshedpur, May 8 : The 4-day residential Nature Camp for the girl students of DBMS English School, Chinmaya Vidyalaya South Park, SDSM School of Excellence and Rajkiya Madhya Vidyalaya, Sundernagar was inaugurated today by the Chief Guest Sabah Alam Ansari, I.F.S., D.F.O.
Jamshedpur Forest Division. The Camp will conclude on May 11, 2015. As part of the Camp, the 42 students along with their teachers will participate in a number of activities over four days including breakaway sessions with Zoo officers including the Deputy Director cum Veterinary Officer, Curator and the Biologist cum Education.
Officer who will conduct real time sessions with them in the field and share information on how the Zoo is run and animal management and upkeep are conducted.
In addition to this, there will be a Quiz Competition, a birdwatching session and guided tour of the Dalma
Wildlife Sanctuary.
On the last day, the students and teachers will be taken on a field visit to the Research Centre of ICAR Research Centre for Eastern India in Ranchi where they will be provided with an in-depth tour of the facility and its agricultural and horticultural initiatives and innovations.
The Nature Camp is being coordinated by Mrs. Seema Rani, Biologist cum Education Officer, Tata Steel Zoological Park.
The Nature Camp being organized year after year over the past 8 years forms part of the educational initiatives planned by Tata Steel Zoological Society’s mission to achieve AICHI Target -1 of the Strategic
Plan for Biodiversity Conservation 2011-2020 of the Convention on Biological Diversity.
This year, the Nature Camp is being supported by the Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change,
Government of India.
