Girl gangraped in Jagarnathpur, four arrested

Ranchi: A case of gangrape of a class IX student was reported on Saturday in Jagarnathpur police station area. Police have taken into custody four of the accused in the case. Two other accused are at large.

DSP Nisha Murmu said the victim had gone to attend the wedding of her maternal uncle in Obaria Busti. She went to sleep in a house adjoining her grandmother�s house after attending the wedding ceremony. Six youths entered the room and raped the girl finding her alone. They also threatened the victim of dire consequences in case she dared to reveal their identity.

The kin of the victim lodged an FIR with the Jagarnathpur police station in this connection. Those arrested were identified as Jhulan Nayak, Anup Kujur, Bajrang Nayak and Shiva Munda.

Police sent the victim to government hospital for medical examination. They are searching for the remaining two accused.
