Jamshedpur, March 7: More than 1,200 applications for drinking water connection under Ghorabandha Water Supply scheme have been pending a nod from Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Ltd (formerly JUSCO), authorities concerned since the past three years. Drawing the attention of the district administration and Tata Steel UISL management on the possibility of water crisis especially during summer, social activist and former BJP district spokesperson, Ankit Anand has urged the authorities for an early solution. He has written a letter to the District Deputy Commissioner and Senior General Manager of Tata Steel UISL, Captain Dhananjay Mishra, urging him to take the initiative without further delay. Ankit stated that clean drinking water was a fundamental right of the common man and this fact should not be overlooked. The BJP leader, in his letter, referred to the agreement that had been made between the government of Jharkhand and the erstwhile JUSCO (presently Tata Steel UISL) that the latter would provide water supply under the Ghorabandha Water Supply scheme. The social activist, in his letter mentioned that by keeping the new applications for water supply connectivity pending through three years was beyond comprehension. BJP leader Ankit Anand, in his letter to the Deputy Commissioner and General Manager of Tata Steel UISL, mentioned that since the last few years new houses were being constructed in Kharangajhar, Radhikanagar, Ghorabandha, Jyotinagar, Dalkham Basti, Barinagar, Dhuan Colony, Dhuma Basti, BS Basti and other adjoining areas thus expanding the number of settlements. He contended that under such circumstances, the unannounced holdup in sanctioning new connection applications since three years was a matter of concern. BJP leader Ankit Anand sought clarification from Tata Steel Utility and Infrastructure Company Limited (formerly JUSCO) on its stand on the matter. In a letter to the DC and Tata Steel UISL GM, Ankit Anand has demanded that initiative be taken with a commitment to provide drinking water connections to new consumers. At the same time, he demanded that the tank capacity should be enhanced with water supply connectivity requirements of growing residences under the Ghorabandha Water Supply scheme. The BJP leader also urged that damaged lids at various water supply points be repaired. Ankit Anand stated that if no initiative was taken by the Tata Steel UISL within one week, a new move would be decided on for realization of the demands under the Ghorabandha Water Supply scheme connectivity.
