Ghatsila: Former PM Vajpayee’s ashes immersed in Swarnarekha

Hundreds of people attend BJP veteran’s Asthi Kalash Yatra in Maubhandar
Jamshedpur: The ashes of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee were immersed in the Swarnarekha river in Maubhandar, Ghatsila, on Friday amidst Vedic chants. Hundreds of people gathered on the occasion to pay tributes to the veteran BJP leader.

Before the beginning of the last leg of Kalash Yatra, from Sakchi BJP office to Ghatsila, state food minister Saryu Roy and former BJP state president Dineshanad Goswami paid floral tributes to late Vajpayee. Roy briefly discussed the life and contributions of the former PM. He said the former PM had served the nation throughout his life. He said late Vajpayee will always remain etched in the minds of the people.

BJP leaders, supporters and other people paid tributes to the former PM till 9 am. Leading party workers, district BJP president Dinesh Kumar accompanied the vehicle carrying Vajpayee’s ashes to Ghatsila. Party workers and other citizens showered flower petals on the vehicle throughout the Jamshedpur-Jadugora route.

A group of priests performed the immersion ceremony on the Swarnarekha riverbank. State BJP president Laxman Gilua, MP Jamshedpur Bidyut Baran Mahato and other BJP leaders were present on the occasion.

BJP backed panchayat representatives of West Bengal were also present during the immersion ceremony. Tributes were paid to the former PM at 11 different places in Ghatsila before immersion.
