Ghatsila by-election: Voter awareness drive inspires citizens to participate in democracy

Jamshedpur: As part of the ongoing 45-Ghatshila (ST) Assembly by-election 2025 preparations, a voter awareness morning procession was organized in the Jadugora area under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program. The initiative, held under the leadership of Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Sunil Chandra, aimed to encourage maximum citizen participation in the electoral process and strengthen the spirit of democracy.

NCC cadets, teachers, and students of Atomic Energy Central School, Jadugora, enthusiastically participated in the procession. Carrying banners and raising slogans such as “Vote, Strengthen Democracy,” the participants appealed to residents to exercise their voting rights in the upcoming polls. The lively march drew attention from local citizens and successfully spread the message of responsible citizenship throughout the area.

Addressing the gathering, SDO Sunil Chandra emphasized the importance of each individual’s vote in shaping the nation’s democratic framework. “Every single vote strengthens the foundation of democracy. Voting is not only our right but also an opportunity to participate in nation-building. All voters must cast their vote on November 11, 2025,” he said.

He further informed that a series of voter awareness activities are being carried out across the Ghatshila sub-division under the SVEEP initiative, with the active involvement of educational institutions, social organizations, youth groups, and local bodies. The collective efforts are aimed at ensuring that every eligible voter is informed, motivated, and ready to participate in the electoral process.

During the program, the NCC cadets also took a solemn voter’s pledge, committing to exercise their franchise and encourage others to do the same.

The SDO remarked that the SVEEP program serves as a powerful tool for enhancing voter education and civic responsibility. Through such initiatives, the administration hopes to achieve a significant rise in voter turnout in the Ghatshila Assembly constituency, reinforcing the true essence of participatory democracy.
