Jamshedpur: In view of the upcoming by-election for the 45-Ghatshila (ST) Assembly Constituency, scheduled for November 11, 2025, the Election Commission has clarified that voters who are unable to produce their Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC) at the polling station will still be able to cast their votes using any one of 12 approved photo-bearing identity documents.
As per the Election Commission’s instructions, voters can present any of the following documents as valid identification: passport, driving license, photo-bearing service identity card issued by Central or State Government/Public Sector Undertakings/Public Limited Companies, photo-bearing passbook issued by banks or post offices, PAN card, card issued by the National Population Register (NPR), MNREGA job card, health insurance smart card issued by the Ministry of Labour, photo-bearing pension document, Aadhaar card, identity card issued to MPs/MLAs, and Unique Disability Identity Card (UDID).
The District Election Officer has appealed to all voters to check their names in the electoral roll and carry either their EPIC or any one of the 12 alternative documents to ensure a smooth voting process.
Voting for the Ghatshila Assembly by-election will be conducted on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, under strict adherence to Election Commission guidelines to ensure free, fair, and transparent polling.
