Ghatshila, Nov 6: The campaign heat in the Ghatshila Assembly By-poll intensified on Thursday as Gandey MLA and Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s wife, Kalpana Soren, addressed a massive public gathering at Dampara Ground.

The rally, attended by thousands—including an overwhelming number of women—echoed with slogans, applause and the rhythmic beat of drums as supporters welcomed their leader with great enthusiasm.
Opening her address, Kalpana Soren paid heartfelt tribute to the late MLA – cum – minister Ramdas Soren, whose demise necessitated the by-election.
She recalled his role during the Jharkhand movement, highlighting how he stood shoulder to shoulder with Dishom Guru Shibu Soren and dedicated his life to public service.
“His absence is a deep loss that the entire region feels today,” she said, adding that the current by-election is “not just a political contest but a battle for honour and legacy.”
Kalpana urged voters to extend strong support to JMM candidate Somesh Chandra Soren, describing him as an educated, responsible and grounded young leader chosen “in the interest of the people and to carry forward the legacy of Ramdas Soren.”
During her speech, she outlined the key achievements of the JMM-led government, citing improvements in healthcare, education, pension schemes, electricity bill waivers, farm loan relief, and the ‘Maiya Samman Yojana’.
She emphasised that the government is committed to delivering welfare benefits directly to every household and ensuring inclusive growth across communities.
The overwhelming turnout of women at the rally added significant momentum to the party’s campaign, as they repeatedly applauded Kalpana Soren’s assertions and voiced their support.
The by-election atmosphere has now gained unmistakable intensity, with Kalpana Soren’s rally emerging as one of the most impactful campaign moments so far.
