Gangster Sonu Mishra shot dead in Jamshedpur’s Burmamines

Assailants shoot his father in leg

Jamshedpur: Unidentified assailants gunned down Sonu Mishra, 37, accused of several crimes, in Burmamines on Saturday. They also shot at Vaidyanath Mishra, father of the deceased, who tried to save his son, police said.

Sources said the incident occurred in the afternoon when Sonu Mishra was on his way home to Jugsalai with his father in a Tata Indigo car. When the car reached Star Cinema, an unidentified man waved his hand to stop the vehicle. No sooner did Sonu stop the car, an assailant came near him and shot him in his head from point blank range, sources said.

When Vaidyanath Mishra tried to save his son, he was shot in his leg.
Sonu reportedly died soon after being shot. The assailants decamped within minutes, sources said.

Police said Sonu Mishra was accused in numerous crimes including extortion, Arms Act, loot and murder. The deceased was a native of Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh. He was released on bail in October this year after a long period.
