Five workers injured in attack at Gamharia Industrial Unit

Gamharia: A group of 20–25 persons attacked workers staging a sit-in protest outside BEBCO in the Gamharia industrial area. The protestors were pressing for their demands over PF, ESI, and other issues when the attackers assaulted the protesting workers with sticks and iron rods, leaving five injured, one of them grievously.

The injured were rushed by ambulance to the Community Health Centre in Gamharia and later referred to MGM Medical College and Hospital for advanced treatment. Workers alleged that the attackers were hired by the company management, a charge yet to be officially confirmed.

On receiving information, JLKM central president Prem Mardi reached the spot and later accompanied the workers to Adityapur police station, demanding the immediate arrest of the accused. He submitted a written complaint and warned of strong action if arrests are not made. Police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
