Fusion of Yoga and Music at Narbheram Hansraj English School

Jamshedpur, June 21: Narbheram Hansraj English School (NHES) celebrated the fusion of Yoga and Music on the occasion of International Yoga Day and World Music Day.

India has popularized yoga across the world and this year the theme is “Yoga for Humanity “. NHES celebrated the day in a unique way with a blend of music.

The evolution of music in India can be traced back to the first sound ‘OM’ to the chanting of Rigveda hymns, Buddhist chants, Carnatic music, bhajans of Meera, quawwalis by Sufis, Rajasthani folk songs, Bankim Chandra’s ‘Vande Mataram”, Gandhiji’s favourite bhajan ‘Vaishnav Jan’ to our National Anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’.

With pride in such rich musical heritage, students of NHES participated in the celebration of this Day.

Various Asanas were performed to the background of live performance of Eastern and Western music by the students

Shreya Roy of Std XA, performed Artistic Yoga. Harshita Hansda of Std XA performed Rhythmic Yoga and Oishani Singha of Std III C performed Yoga Dance. Advance Yoga posture was demonstrated by Bhargabhi Mandal of Std IX. And, finally a dance was performed by the students of Std 1 to the tune of ‘Fly like a Butterfly ‘.

Parents of the participating students were invited to witness the show.

The esteemed members of the School Management Committee, who were present on the occasion, praised the wonderful performance by the students.

The School Principal, Paramita Roy Chaudhury said,’ This endeavour will inspire not only students but also their parents and other family members to look after their physical, mental and spiritual health.’
