Gamharia, Sept 26: In the spirit of the occasion, freshers are welcomed to the XITE College fraternity that is marked by a tradition of socio cultural ethos that makes newcomers feel at home. The XITE College at Gamharia organized the Freshers’ Day that was replete with all avenues of infotainment.
After lighting the traditional lamp and rendition of psalms by the College choir, XITE Vice Principal Fr (Dr) Mukti Clarence, SJ while delivering his address, said, “The traditional lamp that was lighted is a symbolism of the superiority of Indian values that have, through time, enunciated the need to enlighten our minds through our educational journey.”
The adrenaline glands started working overtime as the Freshers’ Day celebrations gained momentum with music and dance performances presented by the XITE bands that included Alison’s Group, the Hot Shots, and Rhythm Divine and EDC Group. The excitement of it all persisted long after the concluding event of a dance performance by the College’s final year students.
Another chapter of the traditional brilliance was the Mr and Miss Fresher event that was segmented into three steps that tested not only the ‘look good’ factor but also tested the intelligence levels of the contestants. Sumit Kumar and Diksha Kumari Singh were declared Mr and Miss Fresher respectively.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Supriya. The entire programme was anchored with panache by Rashmi and Harry. The freshers were made to feel at home with their seniors who ensured an environment of bonhomie that underlined the purpose of Freshers’ Day celebrations.
