Jamshedpur: A fresh spell of intense monsoon activity is set to impact several parts of Jharkhand over the next four days, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and gusty winds across the state.
According to the latest weather bulletin, a low-pressure area currently lies over southern Jharkhand and adjoining regions. The system is accompanied by a cyclonic circulation extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level, significantly enhancing moisture inflow and rainfall prospects.
The monsoon trough has shifted southwards and is now passing through Daltonganj and the centre of this low-pressure zone. A trough line running from southwest Uttar Pradesh to southern Jharkhand, passing through northern Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh between 0.9 and 1.5 km above sea level, is further fueling the weather system.
The forecast for the coming days indicates: July 12: Thunderstorm and lightning may occur at isolated places in the state. July 13: Heavy showers are likely over south-western and adjoining districts, accompanied by thunderstorm activity across Jharkhand. July 14: Isolated heavy rainfall is forecast in eastern districts, with thunderstorm and lightning likely at scattered locations.
Authorities have advised residents, especially those living in low-lying and vulnerable areas, to remain alert and follow safety guidelines. Persistent rainfall may result in waterlogging, disruption of transport services and localised flooding in some regions.
People are urged to avoid unnecessary travel during periods of intense rainfall and to stay updated with official advisories issued by the IMD and district administrations.
