Fresh COVID-19 control measures on cards, focus on surprise inspection in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, July 16:�With more than 700 positive corona cases and five deaths, the East Singhbhum administration is making every effort to control the spread of the deadly virus.�

The newly appointed deputy commissioner Suraj Kumar has said that fighting coronavirus is his first priority and he will take every step to wipe it out from the district. The administration has decided to take tough measures to ensure that COVID-19 protocols are followed in the city. On Thursday the entire district headquarters was sanitized.

�The district headquarters is a hub of activities and people visit here regularly for work. Though social distancing is being maintained but still sanitized the entire premises today,� said an official.      

Sources informed surprise inspection of city markets and other crowded areas also being carried. Vigil has been stepped up in places like Jubilee Park, G-town ground and Sir Dorabji Park in Bistupur, Aerodrum area and Kagalnagar in Sonari  and the Joggers’ Park along Kadma-Sonari Link Road in Kadma to keep an eye on morning walkers.

Those detained are being prosecuted under Section 188 of the IPC for disobedience to order duly promulgated by administration in view of the ongoing spell of Coronavirus pandemic.

Revealing about the step, superintendent of police (City) Subhash Chandra Jat said that they took the harsh action as those picked up from the morning walk had not put on face masks despite repeated appeal by the administration.

The official said this drive will continue onward and the people found without masks will be arrested and put up in the temporary jail.  He pointed out those picked up were released on PR (Personal Recognition) Bond though, they all will have to face trial before a judicial magistrate and will have to pay Rs 200 as penalty and if fail to pay it may be subject to jail term to a maximum of one month.

Moreover, the administration has made it compulsory for people coming into East Singhbhum district from other states to undergo COVID-19 tests and remain in state or paid quarantine till the arrival of reports. The directive was issued after joint discussions that deliberated on the fast spread of coronavirus infection in the district compounded by migrants coming in with many of them being coronavirus positive cases.

All persons coming in through the borders of East Singhbhum district, have to report to the nearest institutional/paid quarantine centres for coronavirus tests before proceeding to their destinations. The interstate/inter district checkposts mentioned under serial numbers are: 1) Pardih Checkpost, 2) Sonari Domohani, 3) Adityapur (near the Kharkai River Bridge under JNAC, 4) Kadma Toll Bridge under JNAC, Katin Chowk, Bankura Road, Patamda, 6) Haldipokhar Chowk, Potka, 7) Hata Chowk, Potka, 8) Keshpur Checkpost, West Bagudia, Ghatshila, Jagannathpur, Bengal Road, Baharagora and 10) Kaliadia Odisha Road, Baharagora.
