Jamshedpur, June 25: The district administration has come up with fresh check posts to keep a vigil of those entering the city in a bid to prevent the coronavirus spread. Fresh check posts have come up at new bridge at Domuhani in Sonari and Adityapur Bridge. The administration plans more such points in view of rising cases of coronavirus among migrant workers.
In view of the importance of the Dobo-Kanderbera road linking to the steel city through Domuhani Bridge, vehicular movement through that stretch has increased considerably.
As we expect the vehicular movement through Dobo-Kanderbera road will increase further in future, we have set up a new check post close to the Domuhani bridge. We have started the patrolling for keeping a vigil on the road so that commuters as well as the truck and trailer operators may feel secured while negotiating through it,” said an official.
Significantly, a large number of people, especially youngsters tend to visit Domuhani bridge over Subernarekha from morning till late in the evening for spending some time at the scenic environment ever since the bridge as well as the road became operational in March this year.
According to officials, only those carrying a valid movement pass, ID of their workplace in the city and involved in the supply of essential services are being allowed to enter from all entry points with the city. Police teams have barricaded the roads and set up kiosks at different entry points.
A district official said the checking will continue till the coronavirus situation normalises. He said some people are entering the city on foot or two-wheelers stealthily. “The administration is dealing with such persons strictly,” he said. The police intensified vigil at all points of entry to Jamshedpur to keep those afflicted with COVID-19 off the city.
The administration has ordered authorities to ensure enhanced checking at the border points and making sure that only those who have valid documents are allowed. It has also directed thermal screening and mandatory downloading of Aarogya Setu application by all visitors.
